I never realized before how a bulky slide is much more difficult to control for lead. The extra length makes standard slides great for chords, (if you want to tune your guitar to an open tuning; which I don't). As far as playing lead this is the best slide and the perfect size for my particular needs. You can adjust it so that less surface area is used for playing more specifically if you want. I love it because it has opened up a whole new world of slide playing for me. I really enjoy playing slide to the Karaoke version of Hotel California by The Eagles that I recently purchased. The slide was actually 15/16 of an inch which make it more difficult to cover three strings at a time. It is possible but you have to be extremely accurate. Exactly 1 inch size would have done a better job. I think it was cut to 1 inch then ground to smooth and lose 1/16 of an inch.
