Endless Thrills and Chills
When we last left our hero the Indian hunter Tremal-Naik in The Mystery of the Black Jungle, he had rescued the love of his life Ada Corishant from the clutches of a fiendish villain. In Sandokan: The Pirates of Malaysia—a follow-up to that excellent adventure novel—we learn that Tremal-Naik’s misfortunes have not abated and in fact have gone from bad to worse. After being banished from India and wrongfully imprisoned in a penal colony for life, his faithful servant Kammamuri takes off to rescue him. But along the way he is captured by the piratical Tigers of Mompracem and then taken to their leader Captain Sandokan, who soon agrees to help rescue his friend Tremal-Naik. But there is more than meets the eye. Most of the action in this third volume of Emilio Salgari’s ever popular series featuring Sandokan takes place in Sarawak in Borneo in 1852; which, I believe, was by then under the economic control of the jingoistic Dutch and English. Central to this historical-adventure novel was a real life English adventurer named James Brooke, who was made White Rajah of Sarawak after he helped crush an 1841 rebellion there. Curiously, here in The Pirates of Malaysia he is depicted as a conniving baddie. Thus we follow Sandokan, Kammamuri and other intriguing characters through a series of thrilling battles, victories and defeats, hair-raising captures and narrow escapes. And, as usual with the gifted Emilio Salgari, we familiarize ourselves with the flora and fauna, watercrafts, weaponry, food and drink, brave heroes, bold and beautiful heroines and the strange people of that fascinating corner of the globe. Upward and onward and with Sandokan’s next adventure!— Victor Rodriguez, author of TAĺNO SUNRISE.

An Edge of The Seat Story
I was surprised when I read The Tiger of Malaysia as an adult. Salgari writes a tight story. Now I use it as an example to my students of fiction writing. This book captures the reader in the first scene. The characters are surprisingly deep. As a young boy, Salgari's stories detonated in me the love for reading. Kingmaker

For all generation
One of my favorite books from my adolescence, I had to sell my books upon arrival in this country, recovering part of my library for my children, a classic, which I will read again.

Great adventure novel
This is a great, classic adventure novel. I love novels set in exotic locations full of swashbuckling characters, and this book fulfills that every request. Salgari really knows his way around adventure. Recommended!
