I had never done A/C work before, but my car was blowing hot air and I wasn’t about to pay shop prices for something I could handle myself. I knew my compressor had failed, but the A/C lines were still sealed and full of refrigerant. Shops were quoting hundreds just to recover the refrigerant before I could replace the compressor and drier—which didn’t make sense for such a simple task. With the RG3 and a DOT-approved recovery tank, I was able to safely recover the refrigerant myself and reuse it after completing the repairs. That alone saved me both time and money, and I avoided having to buy new refrigerant altogether.
