The vest has Velcro and clipping buckles to secure the neck and body. There is a lot of adjustment we had to adjust it down for my dog. The vest has a place to clip your leash as well as a handle on the top in front of the fin that you can use to pick the dog up to put into a boat or just to have hold if there is a current in the water. This is replacing a life jacket we had that she out grew and this shark one is definitely made better (and less expensive). Arrived quick with Prime shipping.
