Soft-close works and, once closed, flush noise is probably reduced by 75% as they say. However, Croydex says it fits most toilets. Mine is a modern push button cistern/basin fitted only four years ago and problem is that when seat and lid are lifted, the seat won't stay up - you have to hold it. Hinges have been adjusted as much as possible to give a better angle but, not only does seat not stay up, but the safeflush no longer fits the basin so negating purpose of seat. If this was not a problem, would have given 5 star rating but, because of issues, cannot recommend. Ensure seat fits properly before disposing of packaging otherwise it could be a costly mistake like mine. Did contact Croydex for assistance and, although they did investigate, there is no solution. I am updating this review in January 2016. Having used the seat for three months, the soft-close no longer works and I have had to adjust the hinges three times as the seat moves.
