If tubing slides are removable, double bends are cleanable. After several passes all loose and slightly gummy debris was removed. A second flexable lanyard attached to the opposite end of brush would make the cleaning process much more efficient and time saving. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on April 5, 2015* I am an advanced high school trombonist, and after buying a beautiful, barely-used Blessing B-88 (with closed wrap F-attachment) I knew I needed a new brush to keep it clean. My old brush, with an unprotected(!) metal spring core, couldn't even attempt to navigate the tighter turns of my F-attachment.Let's start with the good: this brush easily cleaned the entire length of the inner, outer, and main tuning slides (yes, it's long enough to pass through the bow), and it passed straight through the closed rotary valve (not through the F-attachment) like it wasn't even there. It got through the tuning slide of the F-attachment and the short half of the attachment with only a little difficulty, but nothing to complain about. In addition, possibly best of all, the brush is very absorbent, so after you've cleaned your trombone and dried the brush (I used a microfiber towel) you can (slowly) pass the brush through again to get the inner tubes dry as a bone.I only have a couple of problems. As the brush passed through the tight bend of the F-attachment tuning slide and the open rotary valve (through the F-attachment), the resistance it put up seemed to untwist the leading end of the brush (like a can of Pillsbury dough). I'll update this if the problem gets worse, but I don't think that it will. In addition, it couldn't quite get the first length of the inner slide (the dirtiest spot, right where your mouth is) clean because the brush part is too soft, but it did better than my old brush. These are relatively minor problems, though; my main issue is that the long half of my F-attachment had one too many tight turns for the brush. If you go in from the screw, the core isn't firm enough to get through the last bend; if you go in from the attachment, it isn't flexible enough to make the turn in the valve. I bent the core trying to get it through (FYI, even when it's bent halfway along the length it works great everywhere else), but I simply couldn't get the core through the long half of my attachment.All in all, though, this is the best brush I have seen on the market. It is flawless if you have a straight trombone or an open wrap attachment, and it does far better on a closed wrap than any metal spring core brush could (at least it can clean the short half!). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Soft-touch brush avoids scratching *by R***G on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 19, 2013* This brush is non-metal and thus can be used to clean the long thin tubing of a trombone without fear of scratching the surfaces. If you are a trombone player, you really must clean your instrument periodically. There are several reports you can find on people suffering from upper-respiratory infections caused by a dirty trombone. The inside of the inner slide portion starting at the mouthpiece gets a shower of food bits, saliva, etc. as you play. Microorganisms can live inside this slide--it is warm and humid in this slide after you stop playing--and some of those could cause disease! This is a gentle and effective cleaner. The first time I cleaned my instrument, I found not too much in the larger bell or ascending side of the slide, but the descending portion below the receiver was FILTHY. There was a gray-slime that just coated this brush when it came out. I was nearly gagging thinking about every time I was doing those rapid slide motions that we do to make sure the lube is good realizing that the "exhale" backing up the mouthpiece was passing over this gunk and shooting into my face! Yuck. Buy one and use it well.
