I do not see an opening.** A: The gate is almost impossible to open with the provided slider mechanism. The arm latches onto a series of notches which adjust the width. This works well to fix the width, but makes it very awkward to open/close. I gave up on that after a few tries. I now slide it across the floor and walk through that way. I then slide it back in place. **Q: How high are the bottom parts (my husband says "bumpers") that grip the wall?? We have wooden molding going around our floor and it is 3 & 1/2" high.** A: The middle of the bottom bumper is 4 5/8" from the bottom of the gate and the middle of the top bumper is 27 5/8" from the bottom. **Q: Is there replacement bumper pads for this baby gate?** A: Thank you for your question.
