The old ones still work fine, they just look like they've been through the ringer, and I wanted nice, new ones since I noticed the great prices and colors. I love being able to adjust the length on these because I like to keep my dogs closer in stores and crowds, but give them more freedom on regular walks. Whatever length you adjust them to, they stay securely. These are sturdy, nice-looking leashes, and the 3/4" width is more than sufficient for my 3 50-65lb pullers. I bought 5 of these because I couldn't decide on colors, but they are worth it and should last for years as the previous ones have. ### ⭐⭐ My dog's also a bit of a chewer and there were certain areas of the leash that were looking like they were about to break if it *by R***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2017* I got about 7 months of use out of this, until the clasp just broke. I really do not use the extendible feature and have adjusted it to the length that works best for my dog. I can see its usefulness if you wish to give your dog a longer lead. Far superior to any of the extendible pull-out leads that allow the dogs to be alpha during the walk and can wrap around other dogs and people and cause injury. I liked this so much I ordered a second one for my other dog.
