They were approximately 8"-10" tall when I received them. Mine have grown to 13"-16" tall in 3 months of summer climate. I would guess that a 4 year old plant would be at least 3 feet tall. **Q: what type of soil is recommended for these plants? I have two that are needing re-potting. Would like to buy it here on Amazon.** A: I used regular potting soil (Happy Frog) and mine is doing just fine. **Q: Just got this and cut a small piece off a larger leaf and it is brownish yellow and kind of stinky. Is that normal? I thought they were clear oderless** A: Yes. Aloe has a very earthy smell. The leaves you get from the supermarket don't seem to have the same smell (it should have a smell). Aloe "bleeds" so it will be yellowish at first and turn rusty-red color between the skin and the gel. You can rinse it off. It will also "heal" itself at the spot that has been cut. It also should have a bitter taste. All 3 were of a good size, and from the 1 pic I decided to attach, I can attest that the others were of the same size.
