On shorter network lengths, The power source could feed the wireless access point, IP video surveillance camera,Ip phone etc. This Kit contains both very cost effective injector and splitter. The AP I chose (like many) requires POE power. I knew it would work on 12v so I just had to find a way to supply the power. Rather than cutting a network cable and attaching the proper connector to feed 12v I went looking for a POE injector with a 5.5x2.1mm DC connector and found this one. The price was super reasonable and the injector works awesome. Very pleased.

**Q: Will this combo work with cat8 cable? Any foreseeable bottleneck?**
A: There are only 2 twisted pair for data, 100 megabits per second, not full 4, with the remaining 2 twisted pair isolated for POE Power over Ethernet only. The perk of this product is no unexpected stray voltage on 10/100/1000 devices each end. They will have to adjust down to 100 on 2 pairs. Faster cable would be overkill where the hope is stray voltage on remaining pairs might damage a 1000 mbps capable device not designed to protect against that. Should not hurt but won't see the advantage of a faster capable wire,

**Q: Has anyone used this with an ASUS RT-AC66u?**
A: I have used it with the ASUS RT-AC68U.  The only issue is that it only supports 10/100Mbps (the router supports 1Gbps).

**Q: Is the injector and splitter the same except with different plugs? Can I use the splitter as an injector if I supply it voltage?**
A: Yes, they connect to the same pairs in the Cat 5 cable.

**Q: Does this work for 1000adt camera?? pls let me know!**
A: You have to check for it voltage input requirements for the camera, as you notice it don't believe this injector comes with a power supply

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, simple passive power over Ethernet injector

The only caution is that this PoE injection cable uses four of the eight conductors on the RJ45 jacks to supply power. That means it only works with 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps Ethernet, as Gigabit Ethernet uses all four wires for the signal path. I used these to power a couple of IP surveillance cameras that were not inherently PoE. Works as advertised. You, of course, supply the actual power supply that connects to it using the standard barrel connector.
