The product description says ot can be fully submerged up to 15ft but some answers say its not submersible?** A: There are multiple pumps that you can select. The 1.6hp pump is not submersible, all the other pumps are submersible. **Q: Why is the tether on the float switch so long? The instruction manual is terrible. Does the float switch just flop around as water level rises/falls?** A: Yes it just "flops around". I believe it is meant to be that long so that if the water level drops below a certain level the pump turns off so that it is not overheating. **Q: can i leave it under the pool cover all winter to keep water level down below the tile/skimmer line?** A: I used to owned a pool company in the north and would install the cover after winterizing the lines and lowering the pool level. I would place a small cover pump with a built in auto on/off diaphram switch in the center of the cover to remove any water which might build up inside the cover and displace the pool water. You could install and leave the other pump in the pool, but I don't see why? You would want to leave it unplugged and on the bottom because of the floating switch. I purchased this pump to drain my pool in florida, and was very happy with the purchase. **Q: How long is the cord?** A: Appropriately 6 to 8 ft I believe. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect *by K***R on October 28, 2019* Emptied the pool (12' , round) in less than 2 hours plus used it to empty the shop vac cuz there was still a bit of water at the bottom. When I tried to start it again it would not come on. Have tried every thing the book says and nothing works. There is no phone number in the manual for technical support although it says to contact them directly. No warranty information or anything. From reading the reviews it looks like I was sent another customers defective unit. Amazon took care of me and replaced with a working unit. This one seems to work well. Based on other pumps I've used I'd say this is equivalent to a good 1/3 hp pump. I figured as much for the price and seeing I was replacing a 1/3 pump this one works just fine for my application.
