The support promotes muscular stabilization whilst a shaped visco-elastic insert (pad) with two wings and nubs massages the muscle-tendon transition to reduce pain and swelling. I have a spur at the back of the heel and bursitis which is painful and burns, this is helping a lot. It has not made all the swelling and pain go away but certainly makes it less painful during the day and when taken off at night I am not having as much pain at night keeping me awake. Will it cure the problem? Maybe, with time, but until then any increase in comfort and my ability to walk is so appreciated. Definitely recommend. BTW this is thick enough that it may not fit into all shoes. I actually wear it with flip flops without the opposite side cushion and it does not throw me off balance at all. Took forever to arrive, be wary of 3rd party sellers. *by B***. on October 7, 2024* It's pricey for what is essentially a fitted compression sleeve, and mine was shipped from Europe and got lost in customs for about a month. The seller was not really helpful. To top it all off, USPS delivered it to the wrong address. Thankfully, my neighbor got it and gave it back. Only giving it 2 stars because it does seem to prevent my Achilles tendonitis from flaring up. While I was waiting for this one, I found a one on clearance at eBay for a third of price.
