I ran out of the hearts before the next bag of sunflower hearts is due to arrive, so I've only had chips to put out. All sizes of birds swarm the feeders for the chips as well as the hearts. The smaller birds eagerly eat either size, but they don't drop nearly as much of the chips to take their bites (to the point I've had to start actually putting out food for the ground feeders). The larger birds don't seem to mind the smaller pieces, as they continue to show up in full force. I will still put out a mix of whole kernels and chips so that the ground feeders will get their fair share from the finches dropping food to them, while some of the chickadees and titmice choose to perch at the feeders for the chips instead of flying in and out quickly with one seed. My wild birds love these things. The bird tray is empty daily. Unfortunately the squirrels also love them. LOL. Arrived on time and in perfect condition.
