Review: Decreased the time needed for showerpan - This was the first time I used a pre-formed shower underlayment and doubt that I will ever go back to the previous method (deck mud and membrane liners). The primary reason is time and ease of installation. If done right, using multiple layers of deck mud and membrane sealer can take a couple weeks to completely dry, which I find is most important to avoid grout cracks and broken tiles. Plus, it was always a challenge to get the slope just right to avoid pooling. All I had to do was trim the tray to fit and apply the tape to the edges and I was done! The slope was perfect and the drain fit right in (also used the Schluter assembly). I installed the heated floor wire the next day. I have built three showers with deck mud and after using this tray, I am definitely planning on using this for future projects.
