It fits well and feels protective. I'm 5'10 and wear a 14/16. I ordered up based on reviews and got a XXL. It fits well through the boy and slightly loose in the arms. The bottoms unfortunately are strangely large width wise and very small in the torso area. It might be about 3-4 inches of material from the crotch, literally not covering ANYTHING.
