Simple and strong. I use them while doing front squats--my wrist flexibility isn't good enough to do it with the "hook grip" you use for a clean+jerk, so I instead wrap these and grip them. It helps hold the bar no matter how slick my sweaty shoulders get. As you'd expect/hope with lifting straps, they're also easily tossed into a gym bag to take everywhere. The added padding on the inside is nice, but I don't actually use them in that way, so I can't remark on that functionally. My favorite part is the color.
