But the ph stabilized at 3.8. Any idea why this happened?** A: It won’t stabilize overnight. You have to slowly keep building ..remember filtration , water evaporates/added must account…if you do any water, put some in there and test to see if proper ph is reached **Q: Have added twice and Ph is not adjusting. As with any true aquarium buffer below 7.8 one of active ingredients is a phosphate based buffer. Any product below 7.8 that is not phosphate-based is simply a pH adjuster, and will not stabilize the pH of your aquarium. While phosphate is normally considered an algae-promoting nutrient, the phosphate level in Proper pH will not promote algae growth. However, the phosphate buffers in Proper pH will bind to essential trace elements, such as iron. Without essential iron, algae and aquatic plants grow poorly. While we have many people that use Proper pH in planted aquariums we do not recommend using it. I have been using this product with ALL of my plants to keep my ph stable at 6.5 with my caridina shrimp. I also keep neocaridinas at this ph. They all thrive very well. I do use RODI water. I add 1-2 tsp with my 7.5 gallon water, which my PPM comes out to 60-80. I grow Subwassertang, flame moss, and among other plants.
