The shoes are adjustable both across the top with velcro and from the back so that in the mornings when the swelling is less, we adjust them in and later in the afternoon we can adjust them out to remain comfortable. ( I probably should just buy another pair and have one pair adjusted for morning and the other adjusted for afternoon, but they are easy to adjust). It would be fairly easy for most anyone to adjust the shoes themselves, but dad has severe arthritis in his hands, so he cannot adjust them, but he is able to put them on himself once they are adjusted. My dad is very difficult to please when it comes to his shoes, but he has loved these the minute he put them on. We purchased these before Christmas and they arrived promptly. Also, dad fell a couple of times prior to these shoes arriving because his old shoes were not skid resistant, but he hasn't slipped at all with these non-skid resistant soles. Dad feels safe in them and he says they are very comfortable and for him not to complain is a testimony to how good they really are. He wears them from the time he gets up in the morning until he goes to bed at night.
