Varicose around my knee did not get worst BUT since they are so tight in the thigh area I got new varicose veins at the very top inner thigh. Yes, I went by their sizing chart and since i was in between sizes i went a size up. You can not pull them up to high because they will roll down and cause nasty bruises. Also, another drawback they are long (I'm 5.5) and would bunch at the knee and since thats my problem area I went all day pulling them up or down to prevent bunching and deplete the purpose.
