Review: Mobile again...YEAH!!!! - I have had the dog wheelchair for about 2 months now. I wanted to wait until my dog had been using it for a while before I gave a review. I do agree with the other reviews when it comes to this product. The quality is poor for the price, the directions are awful, riddled with typos, as is the website, and I could find no video on their site or on line for their product on the best way to get my dog in and out of it. That being said, my dog loves it. Out of box it had issues, the directions are not clear and when I got it out, put together and my dog into it, she fell through it. Everything was tight, but I found that I needed a spacer for one of the screws that just was not long enough to hold the leg straps in place, once she was in it. Not a fun experience for me or her. I placed a call to customer service at 6pm Arizona time, they called me the next day and emailed. I will say their customer service was very, very good and helpful. They responded right away, via phone and email, even though I had solved the issue on my own. Excellent customer service. As for the product: I recommend flipping the harness part over so it is upside down from how it is described to be placed. I found having the clip on the harness with the red strap, going up and connecting over the shoulder, of my dog, far easier to get her in and out of the wheelchair. I have 55 lb dog, this was not easy for her to get use to, having her feet up and in the stirrups, had her going backwards, which was fixed by getting a pair of booties for the back feet and letting the back legs hang for a while until she is more comfortable. I have since put one of the back legs in the stirrup and she is fine with it. If your dog's back feet are not going to be in the stirrups and will drag on the ground, get a pair of booties to protect the feet. We did her first couple of outings in the backyard and within a week, she was off on her own, no parent required, even at the dog park. The booties will fall off, so always supervise your dog when she is in the wheelchair, so you can find the booties. She is not in it all the time, just when we are out and about, once in the am and once in the pm, not more then 60-90 minutes each time. We worked up to this time. Start slow, maybe 15 minutes each outing for a few days and so on, it is not comfortable and will take time for certain muscles to get use to being in the new position. She may need some treat encouragement the first few times too. Thankfully her front legs are strong and help her get around in the house, but this wheelchair has made going to the dog park with my other dogs fun for her again. Give your dog time, smaller dogs will take to it far easier then larger dogs because they have a lower sense of gravity. She has been knocked over twice, once when a dog ran into her and once by a dog that did not like the chair. Do not leave your dog unsupervised as she will need your help to get the chair back up, if she falls over in it. Always bring the spare parts and tools with you, as just the movement can loosen the screws, but other than that, it is light weight, fits in my trunk, even though it does not collapse, easy to clean and she has learned how to go potty without getting any on herself. She can actually trot quite well in it too. It has given her back her mobility and we are all very happy about that. I would definitely recommend it. **UPDATE** After three months, of twice daily use one of the hollow side rails, which bend very easily, broke...not fixable at all, so I took the other side rail, that had not broken, to Home Depot and told the very helpful person I needed to replace the part. I now have two solid side rails and larger parts that hold the straps in place for less than $20 and she is off again. I had to make the siderails myself, but well worth it to see her moving right along again. **UPDATE** 05/29/2014: After 9 months: both sides rails replaced, one tire replaced, the leg harness broke on one side so replaced with wiring through the nyropene, the connecting component for the wheel and the cart itself, finally fell apart and could not be fixed. Thanks HD for assisting with finding suitable replacement parts. If your dog is around the 60lb mark and will treat the cart gently, I would recommend the 40-60lb cart. My dog off roads every chance she gets so we had to go with a different cart manufacturer.
Review: Should have bought this a year ago - The product is of higher quality than I was expecting. Assembly was easy. The wheelchair is adjustable for length and height. The harnesses are adjustable in many ways to fit a variety of dogs. The manual needs work though. I ran into trouble regarding which way to install both the front harness and the sport harness. Nowhere in the manual does it say the red strap goes on the bottom side of the front harness. Nowhere does it say which way to orient the sport harness. I had to infer this from photos elsewhere in the manual. However, my 14-year-old Lab who can barely stand up on his own, is able to move about the yard with ease now. He is really funny, he tries to get away, so I won't put him in the wheelchair, but he is happy when he is in it. I did run into a little difficulty adjusting the wheelchair to fit my dog. He is tall for a lab and is at or a little above the upper limit of the large size wheelchair. But he is also very thin (frail) and I have the harnesses adjusted as small as they will go and wish they would go smaller. I fixed the height issue by finding some larger 20" wheels on desertcart and using those in place of the 14" wheels that came with the device. The original wheels fit a 1/2" axel but my new wheels are for a 5/8" axel. This was easily delt with by cutting a short piece of 1/2" CPVC tubing to use as an adaptor/bushing. This wheelchair is a life saver, as we were close to euthanizing our dog. I didn't want to euthanize him yet because he is still so motivated. He would drag himself all around the yard in an effort to keep up with our 13 year old Samoyed to bark at squirrels and such. Now he gets around with ease and never tips over. Now that he is using his legs more again he seems to be doing better even when not in his wheel chair. I wish I had purchased this for my dog a year ago before he deteriorated as much as he has. Yes, I would buy this product again, and yes, I recommend this product for anyone who has a dog with back leg/hip issues.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you have this in a medium size my dog stands 18 inches tall and weighs 35 lbs**
A: not sure, ours was 50#

**Q: My dog is a boxer,, about 70lbs and measures about 20.5" floor-top of haunch. Would I go large or medium?**
A: I think it is easier to go larger and then use lower settings on height adjustments and support straps. If you go smaller and your dog is too tall, seems like you are more likely out of luck on adjustments available. Hope that is helpful.

**Q: what is the maximum weight this chair can hold, my great dane is 150 lbs?**
A: The size Large will hold up to 119lbs. Most Great Danes need a size XL.

**Q: I would like to buy a front harness replacement , as I do ?**
A: Ask the company

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Idea and Item, but Bad Instructions
*by K***S on July 20, 2013*

We bought this for our dog who suddenly lost all feeling in one back leg and most of the feeling in the other. She could not walk at all and could sometimes barely stabilize herself to do her business. We saw the reviews and were aware of the problem with the instructions before we bought it, but we also saw some youtube videos of other people using it successfully so we went ahead knowing about the possible challenges. Challenge #1: Getting the darn thing assembled right. The instructions seemed to make no sense along with the photos included. The whole thing seemed to be upside down if you assembled it like they were showing you. So we looked at the one being used on youtube and sure enough, they had assembled it upside down from what the instructions said to do. So that's what we did. The back bracket ends up being lower in height than the long rods that stick out the front. The clickable strap ends up going over the top of the dog. Challenge #2: Getting the dog into it. Once it is built the "right" way, then it is fairly obvious how to get the dog into the thing. You set the wheelchair on the ground and spread the front straps on the ground making them ready to receive the front legs. You lift the dog up and then as you are bringing it down, you guide the hind legs into the holes while making sure the tail goes behind and not into one of the leg holes. Then you bring the front of the dog down and guide the front legs between the straps that you laid out already. Make sure the rear legs are fully into their holes and bring up the front of the wheelchair and click the top strap over the top of the dog's back. Then if your dog has no control over its legs, lift them into the two straps to hold them back and up so they don't drag. Challenge #3: The leg wheel screws definitely seem to loosen up all too easily even when tightened down with pliers, thus causing one side of the wheelchair to drop lower and making it really hard for the dog to walk. There is an allen bolt on one side of the bracket and a thumb screw on the other side of the bracket to pinch the bracket between the two. But even when tightened down fairly hard, they seem to loosen up again within a day or so. The two bolts leave marks on the wheel bracket, so what I did was use those marks and drill little indentations into the bracket (I did not drill all of the way through). The metal is fairly soft and easy to drill. Then I used thread locker (e.g. Loctite) on both the allen bolt and the thumb screw as I again tightened them down as hard as I dared without twisting them off. Only time will tell if my bright idea for this problem actually solves the issue. So far, we are pleased with this item and both we and our dog are much happier that she is able to move around. She is able to do her business from it and seems comfortable with being securely held. It will be nice if she ever realizes how wide she is when in it so that she can avoid obstacles that keep hanging her up. But then again, it has only been a few days and we are all learning how this thing is going to work for us long term. If I have any additional insights as time goes on, I will update this review.
