Believe when I say that it is more black than brown. If you want a brown watch strap, this is not it. It is black, with a hint of brown on it.Also, I literally got this six hours ago, and one of the small leather bands that keeps the end of the watch strap from flopping around has already fallen apart. Terrible quality. It didn't even last a day. I'm not even going to want to return it because it costs so little and its a hassle to ship back.Of course you can't expect more from a watch strap this cheaply priced. I bought it as an "in-between watch straps" strap, since I'm waiting for my better strap to come in the mail. But it literally fell apart in a few hours from normal use, haha.The only reason to buy this watch strap would be if you needed a temporary watch strap immediately, and you have Amazon Prime for Two Day shipping. Otherwise, just buy a different watch strap for $15 that will last much longer. But wanting a watch strap immediately isn't even a good reason, because if you live near a Walmart, they sell these exact same bands in all sizes, and they have some (not too much) selection with color and style. LL Bean originally supplied 3 watch bands, a changing tool for the pins, and extra pins with the purchase. The batteries, bands, and occasionally the case O-rings need to be replaced, which Bean will do. This time I just needed the band and wished to avoid the shipping hassle.This band was exactly the same padded leather as that supplied by Bean, and identical to one of the 3 original bands. This band does not come with a changing tool however, and the two supplied pins were shorter than what I needed, so be sure and retain your original pins, if they are in good shape.Sooo...bottom line, you need a pin changing tool and the size of pins which fits your watch, maybe. Or else you can probably have a jeweler swap bands for a fee, or you can purchase the tool(s) on Amazon.com! Like buying anything, some skill and knowledge is required. The metal buckle is gold, but after 6 months of use the color has come mostly off and mine is now closer to silver. The strap-retaining loop is sewn together with thread on the inside and my loop was gone by 6 months.
