The bad smelling odors are actually removed, not just covered up. Also, the sticks improve the drain flow by slowly removing clogs. However, this product does not work quickly. It took several weeks to actually remove the bad odors. In addition, (at least for me) the one stick per month prescription usage was not even close to sufficient. I use 4 sticks per week (and sometimes 8 sticks per week) to keep my drains smelling great and slowly freely. Based on the cost of the sticks, using that many sticks does not cost much. Also, the sticks only take second to drop into the drains and they require no follow up work or effort. So my time keeping the drains smelling and working good is very little. The only thing that I didn't like was that two of the sleeves of stocks had about half of the sticks broken and smashed in 2 or 3 places.
