Q: Is the top made from solid wood or pressed wood and how are they holding up under every day use?

The top is made of Composite Wood products pressed together to make a solid piece then it is veneered, I makje furniture so I know real wood, this was purchased to fill a spot till the real Table is made, nice looking but don't get too close.

Q: Is the back of the table also dark-stained so it looks good from all 4 sides?

Yes! I'm very happy with this table. I bought 2-I had a hard time finding a small functional end table. very happy. has a drawer with a sliding shelf in it.

Q: is it the same quality as the one they sell at living spaces?

I have never purchased anything from Living Spaces, so I don't know. I can tell you the one I received was packaged well with all the parts needed to assemble and no defects. The color is much darker than the basest dark chestnut tables I have in my living room, but blends well. The drawer is a little short, but you can adjust it so no one will know, and the drawer has an insert you can use to set a drink on when you open the drawer. I needed a small table on the other end of my sofa that didn't take up a lot of space. In my opinion, it's a decent and sturdy table. Hope this helps.

Q: Do they need to be assembled ?

Yes, they need assembly, but it is very simple. All you are really doing is connecting the legs to the upper body and the lower shelf fits into grooves in the legs. Total time was about 10 minutes.
