I have very fair skin and it has protected me well from the very high UV sun rays here. The actual UV rating I have no idea but it has kept me from getting burnt and I burn very easily. **Q: I see several low star reviews say that the umbrella broke in a short period of time. Those of you who gave 5 star reviews, how long did yours last?** A: I've had mine for over a year, but I've only used it 6 or 7 times.
