### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Second in the Calder Saga

This is the second book in the Calder series. If you enjoyed the first, you will also the second. The book sees the return of Benteen and Laura Calder, but centres on their son Webb. Webb is the heir to the Calder empire, and like his father, knows what he wants in life. He could have an easy life with the daughter of one of his father's ranch-hands, but choses to pursue Lilli, the wife of a homesteader. The book follows Webb through what is to the theme for the Calder saga, ie threat to the Calder empire, and sudden death of one of the central characters. However, the scene for book three is set with the birth of Chase Calder, who is to be a familiar figure throughout the rest of the series. The time in which the book is set is hinted at with the mention of motor cars; stock market crash and the great depression of the 1930's.  This is well worth reading, and an enjoyable move along this very good saga.
