My eight year old liked the style out of the box but was disappointed that they were tight across the arch. He does not wear a wide shoe normally however I will order the same size in the wide width in hopes that the problem is solved. I was tempted to have him wear them around the house to try to break them in since they are leather...but should not entertain such an idea. Comfort is key, particularly for concentration at school so we'll try the wider width in this otherwise handsome and comfortable shoe. I loved that the shoes came with an extra pair of laces too. This son is really hard on shoes, especially laces so this saves me having to buy replacements at a later time.
