Does it absorb a lot of liquid? Does it turn into gel?** A: Yes they absorbed quickly right through the pad through the plastic and onto the floor! I have raise Brussels Griffon’s for over 25 years. There’s are absolutely the worst puppy pads I have ever used even way back when 25 years ago they were not manufactured with quite as much research.I use 2 pads always with this brand. Even with two pads sometimes if one of my three dogs goes twice urine runs through both pads and onto the floor! These dogs are only 10 pounds or less folks they don’t Pee a lot at once. **Q: What is the size of the pad aside from the border? I am currently using 22.5 x 22.5 after deducting the 1 inch border. Thanks.** A: I took a tape measure after a pad and came up with 18.75 X 20. Despite the size, they are some of the best pads I have purchased. **Q: Do these pads have adhesive tabs on the back?** A: NO they do not have adhesive tabs. You can use them just as is but they work the best with a puppy pad holder. **Q: I have elderly dogs. Will they know what these pads are for? They were not trained originally to use them inside.** A: IF you are trying to train your dog, do whatever you do to take her/him out for a bathroom break... but don't go outside. Walk him/her to the pee pad and use the leash to keep them there until they do their business. Follow with showers of praise... then let them off the leash. Do it as often as you do for going outside. Keep the routine as accurate as you can, just never go out... just take him/her to the pad. S/he will get the idea and when s/he uses it the first time without the leash, shower with praise as you always do. We follow with a small piece of a treat (we own a 9 pound Chihuahua - now about 12 pounds since we're really homebound these days... (grin)) as reinforcement, she almost never has an accident. In fact, her accidents are pretty much deliberate because we ignored her over something else, and she wants to get our attention (along with another treat...). Depending on your breed of dog and its experience with indoor plumbing, it should take no longer that 3-5 days for them to get the idea. * * * 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 the one who has to be consistent with the training... (wink) They really do want to please you and follow your instructions. * * * Once s/he pees there, leave it as a scent reinforcement identifier until the pad gets soaked well and/or begins to smell before you replace it. * * * Ours was a rescue dog that was afraid to hear my voice or stand at her bowl to eat. She is the queen now after several years of better treatment and has all of us trained very well to her every whim and whimsy...
