Just about OK, but I didn't feel it was as good as claims
Well...this is 'just about OK'.I bought this as I cycle to work from my rural location in the countryside, into London. Most of the journey is unlit country lanes which are pitch black in the early hours/night, with quite a few potholes. On the brightest setting it is 'just about ok'; it lights up the road ahead by enough to see, although not much more. I imagine it's actually better as a light for other vehicles to see you than it is for you to see the road ahead, but it's just enough to do the job. The middle setting was too dim for me.I found that I needed to angle the light a fair way into the distance (which meant distributing the light and losing the brightness) so that I could see potholes in enough time to react. Otherwise, angle the light down and by the time a pothole is visible you've hit it.On the way into London the sun was rising and so after 45 minutes it was light enough not to need this light. On the way home, a different story.Bearing in mind that I had re-charged it fully in the office, I found that the light faded pretty quickly on my cycle home. I had a 2-hour ride home from work and after 1 hour the light was noticeably dimmer. In the final 30 minutes I had lots of unlit lanes to navigate through and I felt really unsafe - I could barely see ahead of me with the light and was fully expecting cars to start flashing/hooting at me to tell me I wasn't visible enough. This was even though the low battery light hadn't come on yet.Basically, it's nowhere near as bright as the claimed 1200 lumens. It's definitely fine as a light to be seen with, and it's probably ok as a light to see with if you ride on lit roads. For unlit roads, it's just about enough if on the brightest setting but I was pretty concerned that it drained the battery as quickly as it did - no way does it offer 4 hours as advertised.I didn't feel very safe with it - and for me that's pretty much the biggest test.

Brilliant Lights - Thumbs Up
I bought this front light after starting cycling to work on unlit paths and not being able to see anything. I cycled home with a mate and he had these lights and said he had tried others and these were the best he had bought.I had seen how good they were but was unsure about having a separate battery that is velcroed to the frame. But after reading the reviews and having a good ponder I orderedThis turned up the next day as a Prime Delivery.I put the battery in a crossbar bag I use for a spare inner tube so it makes no odds to me. The light whether in strobe mode or constant is amazing. On roads I keep it pointed to the top of my front wheel so I don't blind motorists, off road I point the main beam about 15m ahead and I can see everything around and ahead. If I tilt further up I reckon I can see about 100m iþ is that bright.I ride for just under 1 hour each each way and have had 3 journeys on the constant bright mode without the warning indicator or the light fading. So you can get more than 3 hours. It has 3 brightness levels and also flashing and constant. It is easy to fit without tools and is twisted off the mount when removing. The one thing that could be improved is the way you can tighten it to the mount. For me it does get loose and points very low every few days but I think that is more me constantly pointing it up or down I I change between road riding and unlit paths many times on my journey. My other mate got one yesterday on my recommendation. You also get a free rear light which I have never used but doesn't look brilliant.Thumbs up :)

Great value head torch for night orienteering
I bought this to use as a head torch for night orienteering, having previously tried a 300 lumen Petzl Reaktik+ costing almost three times as much. While the Petzl is much lighter, more compact and gives a better spread of light immediately in front of you, it isn't so good for picking out navigation features at long range, which is important for orienteering. The AUOPRO light has the feel of a well made, quality item and the claimed brightness seems accurate. The lowest (quarter) brightness setting was similar overall to the 300 lumen petzl, although concentrated into a more tightly focused beam. The highest 1200 lumen setting provides brilliant illumination for about 50-60 metres (about 10 metres beam width at that distance) and enough light to fairly easily pick out landscape features at 100-150 metres. These distances are at least twice what the Petzl reaktik+ managed. The head torch configuration puts the battery pack on the back of your head and the total weight is a fairly substantial 265g (compared to 110g for the Petzl reaktik+). By using a 1 metre male to female usb extension cable I was able to put the battery pack in a waist pack and reduce the weight on the head to 140g, which was more comfortable and didn't seem to affect the brightness (I made sure to get a robust extension cable with 24 awg power wires to minimise voltage drop). For the specialist requirements of night orienteering, this is an ideal light, but for general night running along paths and tracks it is overkill and a lighter weight, more compact head torch is better. It will undoubtedly make a good bike light but I haven't used it for that yet.

Nice and bright
I've had for six months, used a few times. Rode 130 miles in the day time and had lights on lowest setting to be seen by other road users, not surprisingly battery went flat, but lasted about 6 hours. Bought two of these. I sometimes use the spare battery to charge a smart phone, used it to keep a strava app going on a long ride, that worked. The other night caught out by bad weather, on pitch black unlit roads, out with my cycle club heading home, this light was brilliant. It's was brighter than old fashioned 6v motorcycle lights that I've ridden with that I had in the olden days.As I said I ordered two. one the usb cable fits in nice and snug, the other it's far too tight, and is a struggle to fit in, but does work.Depending on bicycle, and I've got too many, can be a bit cramped on the bars getting everything attached. Fine on my hybrid, but a struggle on my roadie. Haven't tried to use it as a headlamp.
