The biggest problem with the older PortaCool's is that there are no drain plugs in the bottom of the basin(s). Therefore, getting the basin clean is a pain in the buttocks. The manufacturer relied on the pump to clean out the basin via the upper drain attached to the side of the cooler.... I don't like that because I don't want these pumps pumping dirt and trash if I can avoid it. I suspect that is part of the reason they prematurely fail. I installed this pump a week ago, and so far it works great. I will update if it does ot live up to expectations.
