I love cashews and am a peanut butter fanatic, so I thought I’d try cashew butter, and this was the cheapest one on prime. I also love salted caramels, so I figured this would be something I’d like.I was wrong!This doesn’t taste at all like salted caramels, and has very little resemblance to peanut butter in taste or consistency. It is runny with a consistency like a thicker salad dressing and tastes like many other bland “health foods” where the taste is sacrificed for health. And that bland taste isn’t just a lingering after note...it is bitter overpowering! I don’t know how a bland taste can be overpowering. I tried to get the taste out of my mouth with milk, then apple juice, and finally have resorted to skittles, but it is still there. I’m really disappointed that I won’t even be able to choke down this product that I had high hopes for.Now that you know how I feel about this product, let me also say this..I gave it 3 stars vs 1 because I didn’t realize this was gluten free before I ordered it, and i didn’t think 1 Star was fair for that reason. I haven’t had much luck with gluten free foods. After tasting it I had to look closely at the description and sure enough—gluten free. So for all I know, this could taste heavenly to non-gluten eaters who are used to eating gluten free foods.Also, everybody has different tastes, which is obvious by the 2 previous reviews. Something I hate, you may love. I don’t want to prevent this company from selling their product, and since this is my first time trying any cashew butter, for all I know this is how all cashew butter tastes. But I also feel it is necessary to tell of my experience so other potential buyers have another perspective of the product. I wish this review was here when I was considering ordering this. Please take the other reviews into account too, and remember that I’m not used to the taste of gluten free foods. I found it on Amazon, but discovered this and decided to try it instead. This one cost more, but is actually much better tasting. They both are the same calories and such, the other not as sweet but had more variety of nuts. This Basse stuff is insanely good though, would prefer to buy it in bigger tubs. I love to spread it on a banana, but often eat it right off the spoon (meet Joe Black!) I have been on Keto for 6 months and have made fat bombs using peanut butter. When I saw this salted caramel cashew butter I decided to give it a try in my bombs. Wow, it was such a nice change from the usual peanut butter flavor. It was really good. The consistency is always a little separated when I open a fresh jar so stirring is like most natural peanut butters. My older son loves eating straight out of the jar or he will mix it in with some dry granola. Again, nice taste, texture. I have reordered this several times, I usually get the 4 pack for better price. If fat bombs are your thing, mix a jar of this with butter, coconut oil, cream cheese, some cocoa powder or chips, and erythritol. Plenty of recipes for fat bombs. Will continue to purchase this.
