Don't forget this is going to also depend on where you are located and what the weather is like if it's completely humid don't expect a saturated pad to cool things down much more than just a fan without the pad. However for those of us who live in dry States like Arizona New Mexico Utah California well all over the place, these are amazing especially for those of us who want to control climates very particularly in our Grow rooms this is my go-to **Q: It looks like it has a light. Can that be turned off?** A: Yep super simply you just do a long press on the button and it shuts off the night light or that blue light you're seeing. The only light that does stay on is the top LED however if you are handy with a screwdriver you can disconnect that really easily but if you don't want to do that to something you just spent 100 plus dollars on you could put a piece of tape over it if you want it to be completely light free I will say the only reason I disconnected the light was because I use it in grow rooms and don't want it to mess with times or photo times AKA light and dark times. **Q: Why is the cartridge brown-ish?** A: Hello! Worked well for a week or so and now, only when it choses to - mind of its own - but the light doesn't work. What a waste of money. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Good for what it is *by M***T on 14 June 2021* The technology could not be simpler you fill the water and a highly absorbent filter absorbs it and then a small very quiet fan blows air through the filter. On a particularly hot day I tend to reduce the amount of cold water I put in the device at any one time and instead add some ice cubes, which is enough to last a couple of hours at a time. It's not essential but does make a slight difference. Now if you are expecting this to cool down a whole room forget it - it's a fraction of the price of a fully installed air conditioning system for a reason. There's no refrigerant, compressor, condenser, inverter, evaporator, holes in walls, a dedicated power supply, internal and external units, a team of installers or electricity costs that will make your eyes water. Instead the Evapolar is simply a 9w fan that runs off USB that pushes air through water and delivers cool air onto your body - cool enough for comfort whilst working from home. Mine is sat on my desk just in front of me on fan setting 2. Its very quiet and nobody notices when i'm on a conference call - except me as I'm not overheating. I also own a desk fan but that just swirls the hot air around whereas the Evapolar genuinely cools me. Furthermore, I have sensed zero humidity in the room as the water evaporates - I suspect a hot cup of tea will generate significantly more humidity in the air. I should also point out that I am fortunate enough to have air conditioning in some areas of my home and was considering having it fitted in my office. However, the fact that the Evapolar can keep me cool at my desk by providing a focused beam of cool air is good enough for me. Just to add - water and electricity don't mix so the trick is to fill the water when the device is not connected. Filling the water could not be easier and spillage would take some doing but I did manage it whilst picking up a phone call.
