I have no way to know how good it is, as supplements are not well regulated, so I can't comment on that. We take NAC because if may have value if we become infected with the novel coronavirus, that causes COVID-19. And with regard to the odor, this is my experience: I noticed the normally expected sulfur odor when I opened the bottle to distribute the pills to my daily Rx sorter, but I have never noticed any odor when I am taking the pills each day. Yes, it is mildly annoying for a few minutes upon opening the bottle for the first time, but it has not bothered me since, and when I just opened it again, today, I had to hold the open bottle near my nose to notice any odor at all. As others have noted, if it is actually NAC, it is supposed to smell of sulfur ("rotten eggs"). That just indicates it is likely to be real NAC.

**Q: Are these suppose to stink, just open bottle terrible smell...are they safe to take ?**
A: It is supposed to smell. People you could have just looked up the small of NAC.   jeesh, people want a product then they waste it.  Sulfur is normal and it smells that way.  This information is in many reviews.  For those using brands that don't smell. Its probably just a poor or fake product.  If anything its good to know if your product is real or not.

A: I just recently purchased this product but the smell is so awful I don't think it's good to take it. Is it supposed to smell this bad?

**Q: Is this on comparison to mucinex**
A: I disagree with some of the replies. I took Mucinex for a long time with disappointing results. NAC is a far more effective expectorant. Within a half hour to 45 minutes after taking it, I usually cough up mucus. I highly recommend it for anyone with lung congestion or COPD.

Waste of time and money. Strong Bad smell like old fish. I tried one of these and the fishy smell lingered with me 24 hours. Not worth it. I have used other brands of NAC, and one had NO smell at all, and the other just barely noticeable. I feel like something is wrong here. Lots of positive reviews, but 20% negative, which I missed. The bottle I got was bad, Maybe a bad batch, or maybe got overheated in manufacturing, storage or shipping, which is a Quality Control Issue and not my problem. I am throwing out and will not buy again. Nor will I buy this brand again due to quality control issues. Bad product. Waste of money.
