There are two compartments, the smaller one has a removeable container with a lid. I took pinto beans straight from the fridge and added them to each side. The larger compartment has two cups and the smaller one has one cup. Plugging in the cord starts the heating process. There is a light on the box to let you know it’s on. I heated the beans for 50 minutes and both sides where equally hot. I left them in for another ten and they were too hot to eat. This box works really well. It was easy to clean by wiping out. The cord is removable and there is a covering over the cord opening so you don't have to worry about getting water inside if you do need to wash with water. I got this for my mom to use in her tiny camper. It’s going to be perfect. She has cold meals like sandwiches in a cooler because her caregiver would already be gone for the day. I've been looking for a way to let her have a hot supper. This looked the best for the price. I didn't use it for food because I wanted it new for her, but I did clean it and otherwise check it out for weight, handiness, I like the compartments to separate items and the carrying handle. . Seems just what she needed. I'm sorry to see it seems out of stock and unknown for restock.
