Thus, dedicated mp3 players are cheap and act like an external drive. Drag 'n drop, done. However, many mp3 players don't have variable speed, and many old-school teachers talk too slooowww...so I have to speed them up to get through the recordings. The AGPTEK 16GB Portable Music Player allows me to speed up listening by about 30% (rough estimate). Even iTunes won't do that if it thinks an mp3 is music, and not a podcast or audiobook. Just got it, don't know how long the battery lasts and haven't tried to use the Bluetooth. Still, I am very happy to instantly put a dozen files on the mp3 player quickly and easily. This will be my new dedicated teaching listening device (or lecture, or whatever other files I need to listen to for my study and teaching prep). Review: As Close to the Sansa Clip+ as You Can Get Today - This is a spiffy little unit, with excellent sound quality, a solid feel, and good navigation, at a decent price. Gosh, how I wish I had stocked up on Clip+ units when they were selling for $30. This is still the best stand-alone mp3 player ever made: lightweight, superb, and solid mechanical button navigation that seemed specifically designed for podcasts, right down to hiding empty directories. But now their batteries are dying, and you can't buy a new one for less than $150. AGPTEK's M13 is as close as you'll get to it: much heavier, and with twitchy navigation: look at the display the wrong way and you've skipped through the track. (Hint: always tap the power button after you've started the track, which means you've got to tap it again to get navigation back.) And you'll find yourself wasting time in empty directories. Plus, there's no clip or wrist band--just a hefty rectangle you'll have to hold onto or stuff in a pocket. So, until Sandisk gets its act together with the newer Clip versions, which don't hold a candle to the Clip+, or better yet, simply start manufacturing it again, the AGPTEK M13 is the best you're going to do. Update: After using this unit for a few months, I downgraded it to 3 stars: the navigation is very annoying; if you even look at the touch keys the wrong way, they fire off, it's mandatory to lock the pad when not operating the keys. There is only a single, slow, scroll feature within a file. Finally, and worst of all, the keypad becomes unstable and completely unusable in the rain. I ran into a problem where some mp3 files from the SD card did not show up in the song list. I solved this by moving them from subfolders into the main SD card directory. The other files in subfolders showed up without an issue, so it's a weird, annoying little quirk. Menu navigation is somewhat annoying. Everything else seems to be okay.
