I bought this in 2012. It is now 2018 and I just rewired my home theater system, and had two of these Mediabridge optical cables with the same problem - the male plastic part that inserts inside the female connector on your device had deteriorated and broken apart, rendering it useless and leaving small broken plastic parts inside your device. Both cables in the trash. Something wrong with how the plastic ages. Do not buy unless Mediabridge responds to this post to explain that they have changed the materials used. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best cable for iMac to amplifier *by B***K on Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2020* I bought several cables that had a mini-Toslink (3.5mm) to standard Toslink in order to use the optical out from my iMac to the optical input on my amplifier (which has an excellent built in DAC to do the conversion from digital to analog). I've used Mediabridge cables for almost all my connections, but Mediabridge does not make a mini-Toslink to standard Toslink cable. I was not satisfied with the sound reproduction with those other cables I'd bought, so I decided to just try a Mediabridge standard Toslink to standard Toslink and add a right angle adapter having a male mini-Toslink to female Toslnk to connect it to my iMac. A good decision: the clarity of music reproduction through my acoustic suspension NHT satellites and Subwoofer is definitely improved. A better cable setup for that 3.5mm iMac dual purpose headphone/optical out. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great sturdy quality.
