It should be applied to the scalp, not to hair. Try parting the hair in various areas where hair is thin and dab onto the scalp. This is similar to a product distributed by Joan Rivers’ company but is easier to use because of the dabber and is considerably cheaper. The four stars is because the color is a little off for me. I ordered light brown and it has more of a reddish cast than I expected and than what appeared on the color chart on my device. Next time I will likely try the dark blonde and see if it goes a little better with my medium brown (with some gray) hair.
