One unfortunately alarmed me during the middle of the night.So I saw this unit on Amazon and thought I would give it a try. It had a digital screen, a battery backup like the Kidde alarms and was much cheaper. Ordered and packaged arrived. Looks like a nice unit, installed a 9v battery (not included), plugged it in and it goes through a countdown/startup procedure. I left it on the kitchen counter top for a few days to see how it functioned with the thought of later placing it in its permanent location.A few days ago, I was abruptly awaken at 4:30 AM with alarm going off beeping and saying by audio that there was a gas leak. Mind you there is no natural gas or propane stove in the kitchen. I currently have a natural gas dryer and water heater in the utility room. So I sleepily go to the utility room and the Kidde alarm and it shows "0" on its digital screen.Later in the day I restart the gas leak detector and by the evening, it once again alarms me of a gas leak. This time I put another gas leak detector within a foot of this unit and it shows "0". So I am done with cheap detectors. Spend the extra $20 and buy a Kidde KN-COEG-3 which is running around $35 on Amazon or if you live near a Menards, they have the same unit under the brand Lifesaver for $35 also. You and your family's lives are worth the extra $20 and then some. ### ⭐ DANGER No Detection of Gas!! *by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2021* I bought this thing because of a gas leak and smell of natural gas (methane) in the building. After setting it up and letting it go through its calibrations and self-tests, the gas smell got stronger and stronger. After a few of weeks a plumber came with a detector and said the gas smell inside was too dangerous and cut off the gas. Smell gone. This thing makes sounds and has display but did not detect any gas at all at any time. A CO detector did a better job detecting the methane and raising an alert.
