I packed them for a day trip to the rainforest and was ill advised to put them on as part of the hike to the waterfall. While they are definitely not hiking shoes, I was amazed they survived such terrain! We hiked up and down the mountain, through and up rocky walls, and in out and out of waterfalls and down a natural rock slide. Through all of that they did not slip off once and did not rip at the seams at all. I did have to toss them by the end of the all day affair but that was only because the insoles had slipped out from one of the shoes and I wasn't about to pack soaking wet shoes in my bag to figure out if they were salvageable. I received lots of compliments on how cute they are but I was mostly impressed with how they lasted! If you are looking for water shoes to wear like on a boat, a cruise ship, around the pool or waterpark or walking on hot beach sand and are not planning to actually immerse yourself in the water, then these shoes would be fine for you.
