The picture are colorful and the text is short enough yet informative enough for young children. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Happy 4 Year Old Reader! *by J***N on January 31, 2021* My 4 year old niece was thrilled to receive this book for her Christmas present this year. She is only beginning to read, but loves the beautiful and bright illustrations and is very happy to have anyone help her read one of these short stories. She is already very well aware that there are many amazing young reader books about important women, but she never tires of receiving another. I expect that by the time she goes to school she will be shocked to learn that men have done important things too, lol! Which is exactly the idea, as she is being raised in a progressive family living in a very red state, we know she will receive (at best) a generic education in history, but more likely, an extremely biased one that will diminish the accomplishments of women, minorities, and other people from marginalized groups. Our family is so happy and grateful for books like this, which make it easier for us, as grown ups, to begin inoculating our children against the generic and biased education they will likely receive in school and prepare them to add to those discussions, challenge prevailing narratives, and retain their self-esteem and integrity in the face of criticism and peer-pressure. These short stories are the right length for an early reader.
