## Overview

Pure Agrovet’s Super Napier/Pakchong 1 is a premium perennial hybrid fodder grass developed by Thailand’s Department of Livestock. Combining Napier grass and Pearl Millet genetics, it delivers exceptional growth—up to 11 feet tall and 200 tons/acre/year yield—with 7-8 harvests annually. Sterile seeds mean propagation via slips only, ensuring quality and sustainability. Air-shipped for rapid delivery, this drought-tolerant hybrid thrives in Indian climates, boosts milk production by 500 ml per animal, and supports efficient, high-protein animal husbandry.

## Description

Super Nepier/ Pakchong 1 are Perennial Hybrid Napier Grass obtained by crossing Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum). Developed by Department of Livestock, Thailand. It’s Imported Hybrid, “KING OF NAPIER” in Asia. This is very fast growth, commonly crop height ranges is 10-11 feet, it grows very tall. Farmers should take 7-8 years good yield and annually take 7-8 cuts are possible. Highly drought tolerance and suitable for Indian climatic conditions (Anywhere in India). It possesses more tillers or branches per plant, more leaves than Napier grass. It exposes 500-550 number of leaves/plant and leaf length is 115-125 cm. It can be cultivated throughout the year under irrigated conditions. Plough 2-3 times to obtain a good tilth and form ridges and furrows, the spacing recommended for 50x50 cm, requires for 12,000 slip/acre. Irrigate through the furrows and plant two-node stem cuttings (slip) per hill/one side of ridge. Give life irrigation on the third day and thereafter once in 10 days. First harvest is to be done on 75-80 days after planting and subsequent harvests at intervals of 30-40 days. The fodder has to be cut closer to the ground level for more profuse tillers. Hand weeding is done whenever necessary. Yield is 200 tons/acre/year (maintain 15 cows in one acre of land), 50-60 tons/cutting depending upon the soil. Farmers can save huge money because of high Protein content (16-18%). It has been found to increase milk yield by almost 500 ml per Cow & Buffalo and Increase the body weight for Goat and Sheep. Good re-generation capacity & low leaf blade. Note: This is MOTHER MATERIAL only, farmers can develop slips and transplant to more area after 150 days from this materials. Farmer's once got slips at the same time sock in normal water for 4-5 hours, then move to planting. SEEDS ARE STERILE in nature, so slips only good propagated material.
