It would work great in a study or a zen room, or some other quiet place. I felt durable and was esthetically pleasing. I did not find it to be noisy. Cleaning it was a little labor intensive though.The cat, on the other hand did not want anything to do with it or occasionally she would try to drink from the top bowl. Due to this, it needed to be filled constantly compared to my previous fountain that could last 3-5 days between refills. Also, the "filtration" was the black mesh stuff people use in aquarium pumps.
