Gishy Goo, from Ultradent is the new, improved replacement for wax as a braces, bracket, and wire pain relief aid. This product is a specially formulated poly-vinyl-siloxane elastomer that can be placed over wires, brackets, braces, etc. This unique material is simple to place, stays on longer, and is easier to remove than wax. Simply squeeze a pea-size amount from the syringe, mix for 10 seconds, and place over the bracket or wire. There is no messy cleanup and the material will stay in place for up to 12 hours!

Tip: wet your fingers slightly before applying the product to your braces. This will help the goo not adhere to your fingers as much while it sets and hardens. Roll the goo into a little ball and apply. Hold the goo in place on your braces with your fingers until it starts to set, then you should be able to slowly pry your fingers off when it hardens. I kind of use my tongue a little bit to help pry it off my fingers.

**Q: Does this work for permanent retainers?**
A: Not too sure about permanent retainers because my braces are only a year old. 
I would add that depending on what you're eating this stuff will stay in place i.e. soft foods vs meats. This stuff is like rubber cement and does it's what it's supposed to do, besides the unattractivenes of the color. I can't complain and will definitely recommend hope this helps.

A: I didn't see an expiration date on any of my tubes

A: After mixed it dries a white color.

A: Hi there. So sorry you're going through so much pain. 
Gishy goo is made up of 2 viscous liquids(a base and an activator). You squeeze a pea sized amount of the base and activator material onto hand, then use finger tips to mix it thoroughly for 10 seconds, then apply the Gishy Goo to the brackets or wires at the source of irritation. It fully sets in 2 minutes, stays in place better than regular orthodontic wax, and provides long-lasting relief that won't wear away like wax materials.

When wax isnt enough to prevent my braces from hurting the inside of my mouth, this product is great! Sticks nicely to braces to protect my mouth but also comes off easily. Hardens nicely.
