It is supposed to take 4 months for the hair to start growing back, little by little, and 12 months for me to look normal again. I needed something that was lightweight, not too warm, and not tight. This hat is the best, most flattering, and most versatile out of all the chemo hats I tried. I love it! I went back and bought two more colors.It has a visor, but the visor folds flat, so the hat can be worn as a beret. I really like this feature, and tend to wear it as a beret more than with the visor down. But I do like the visor for those super sunny days. It is also made of cotton, and is cotton lined, and very soft. In addition, it has some heighth, and doesn't lay flat on my head. This is both flattering and keeps it off the new hair grafts. Even though the scarf is pretty, I don't wear it on the hat. Maybe I will when it's summertime. We’ve tried 3 or 4 different types of head coverings so far and this is her favorite for style and comfort. It’s loose enough that she doesn’t feel it rubbing against what stubble she has since shaving her head without losing a cure form, which is a big plus. Our family all have giant noggins, so this has been an issue with other head coverings.It’s very cute and there’s a good selection of colors. Lighter weight, so it’s perfect for summer in the Texas panhandle.My only complaint would be that there’s only one belt loop on the hat for the scarf. We’re in a very windy area and thought that the scarf would be secured at more than one point. My mom said she’d still rate it as a 5 though because the scarf isn’t as important to her. Photo clearly shows the loop on the hat on the LEFT side for scarf. It is deceiving with the scarf on the hat. You can not see if there is a loop on the right side or not ! I thought there was because the scarf usually needs to be held down with something . ( from a sewersView point ) The hat was a bit to big. You could solve that by adding something to the back where the elastic it .That could be made adjustable, then it would fit small to large heads !
