Feels like leather. We did not take it apart to look at the back side of the material. There are several pulls / samples that are leather. The leather material appears to be thin and very pliable. All of the stitching is evenly spaced and straight. Zippers are nylon with metal pulls. They appear to be of good quality, time will tell. There are a total of 4 pockets. My father in law will probably only be using the outside 2 pockets. The 2 inner pockets are sometimes harder to access. The shoulder strap is of synthetic seat belt like material and appears to be well secured to the bag and has enough adjustable length to span across a larger person.
