I thought it would take a few weeks for him to warm up to it, but within 24 hours of assembly, he was riding down the block and stopping on a dime! Things I like most about this bike: assembly was easy; the bike is very light, the handbrakes fit little hands perfectly, and the design and style is beautiful. I think it is one of the only bikes you can get in this size (I got the 12”) that is a freewheel bike with no training wheels and so light. Its heavy, but my son doesn't really need to pick it up. His inseam is 16", so I got this small bike (which is the same size as his Yvolution balance bike) so he would easily transition. Because of the 12" tires, he has to pedal a lot. But he picked it up day 1! I'm just worried it's too small and too heavy. The larger 14" bikes had minimum inseam of 17", but in hindsight I would have gone with that and just let him work a little harder at learning.
