Yes, there's a timer and it shuts off every 15-20 minutes. However, I like that feature. It's great if you are forgetful, if you want more, simply press the remote button, voila!The rocking /swiveling is great. Was worried about sliding on wood floors, but not so much.The only negative thing is that it's a little tough to get the hang of the reclining. It's like a pull lever that you have to pull just right. Now that I understand how, I can do it fairly easily. Hopefully this helps. It can't be beat for the price.
