The XL fits good but I think I could have even got L since the straps allow for a lot of adjustment. I’m probably that in between size but leaning towards XL.Don’t worry too much if you are off a little on their size charts. There’s a lot of room for size error.Tested this out in MMA class last night against a guy who likes to throw side kicks and land with his heel. I got this because I was tired of bruised ribs that take two weeks to heal all the time. This did the job. If you are already conditioned and have been taking kicks without armor you will find this helps a lot.You will still get hurt if you take a direct hard shot but if you are moving away or blocking and your opponent isn’t going 100% this should be more than adequate for most sparring sessions. If I had to put a number on it I’d say it reduces the impact you feel by at least 40-50%.It’s very light and not too restrictive. Once I get moving I forget I’m wearing it. Hard to put on by yourself so have your sparring partner help you. It fits correctly, after adjusting where the horizontal straps run through the vertical loop, although it is a cut a little low around the upper ribs. We may have been better to go with a large.Movement is slightly restricted, so it takes some practice to move the way you'd expect in this.
