I ordered two after having already purchased and used one in a queen size for myself.They wash well, and have little shrinkage, but will still fit the mattress. There is a possibility I may have overdried them with my drier settings. The main part of the protector is soft and almost pillowy, like a medium thickness quilt.Since my son was in potty training season, they needed to be washed quite regularly - at least twice a week. I had two other mattress protectors from another brand since he was born (about 3.5 years), so we were rotating with four protectors.I'm not sure what the problem might be, but the one time my husband changed the sheets, he said the pee soaked through the protector. At the time, we layered two sets (mattress, protector, sheet, protector, sheet) to make middle of the night changing/cleanup easier. He said the bottom set was wet! As a mattress protector's sole purpose for existence, that didn't make any sense. I shrugged it off and explained to myself that my husband clearly didn't know what he was talking about.The following week, as I was changing the sheets (the bottom set - the top set had already been removed), I noticed the mattress was wet! Not damp, wet...like water had spilled and a paper towel wasn't enough to soak up the liquid. Now, I was lucky in that our crib mattress has a waterproof material for the top layer, so I was able to wipe it down with a disinfecting wipe. Had it been a traditional cloth mattress I would have been screaming bloody murder. One, my husband was right. Two, the mattress protector did not do its job.I have yet to have this happen again, as my son's night time training has gotten significantly better and if/when he does wet himself, he wakes himself so there isn't enough to soak the sheets.If I could, I would exchange them. Since I have two sheets, I'm not sure if it's both or just one of the two with the problem.If the soaking through didn't happen, it would definitely be 5 star rating.I feel I'm being generous in the 3rd star as a mattress protector that soaks through is pretty much just a fancy bed sheet.All the other pros don't add up to the one thing this protector should do - protect. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The first thing I did when I took it out ... *by Z***Y on December 7, 2015* The first thing I did when I took it out of the package was smell it. There was no chemical or funky smell that you usually encounter with new items. That was pleasing to me. I immediately washed the item according to the washing instructions which were located on the package; and dried it. I put it on my daughters standard crib mattress in her toddler bed and it fit perfectly. The elastic corners are deep enough that I don't need to worry about it slipping off of the bed.I wanted something to put on her bed to give her a little cushion instead of sleeping on top of her fitted sheet on the hard crisp plastic mattress. It gives just the right amount of padding. I am not too worried about her leaking out of her diaper, and she has not had any issues, so I cannot vouch for being waterproof but it does seem to be able to do that well.It is a little more than what I wanted to pay this item, but I think over time it will be worth it. Just wish I got this sooner! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very pleased *by S***E on December 1, 2015* We have started using the mattress cover about a week ago on our three month old. Prior to this she was in a cradle. The cover washed up well with other laundry. No need to wash it special which is a big plus for me. The cover fit the mattress perfectly covering the entire top with nice stretch in the elastic sides. There has been no issue with it slipping off the mattress. The waterproof layer is not noisy and the small padding on top allows baby some comfort against the waterproof layer.
