Quick , but not simple
Bought to relocate our washing line. Despite 3 sleeves our washing line was still not a snug fit, packed out using empty mastic tube and piece of plastic milk carton. Pilot hole drilled in the. Ground using 28mm masonry bit and holder simple screwed into the ground using metal bar it came with. When going got a bit harder metal tube used over bar to increase leverage. Holder screwed down easily and functions as intended. How long it will last I don’t know but the holder survived tightening down process better than the 10mm bar which bent.all in all I wanted to move the washing line, holder arrived following day and after half an hour washing line was ready to use. Certainly easier than concreting in a sleeve and pilot hole drill meant it had a good chance of going in vertical.

Good VFM
Screw-in rot-proof plastic stake complete with three inserts to cope with poles of different diameters. However my rotary washing line was not one of the diameters, so I needed to improvise. Thankfully I had a spiral plastic cable wrap that was perfect to wrap around my washing line to match.Screwing the spike into the ground with the supplied Tommy bar was easy. However you can't use it for the last couple of centimetres because the Tommy bar holes are below the flange that is meant to sit at ground level. It really needs something that can provide a rotational torque from within the stake cavity. Again I improvised using other tooling from my collection.Getting it vertical can be a problem. However once installed it is sturdy and meets my needs.

You need mussels the size of King Kong to screw it in the ground
At first glance I was slightly disappointed as this is maid from plastic not metal. But having said that the plastic is very tough and good quality. The installation was hard going the soil it went in to is still soft from the spring rains but it was unbelievably hard to screw it in. . I bent the bar that comes with the kit trying to screw it in and still didn’t manage to get it completely flush with the ground. But once it was installed I was pleased with the results. Our line fitted well in the hole. All in all if your strong It won’t be to much of a problem installing this if you not forget it or find someone to do it that is

Makes placing a whirly gig clothes line a doddle
When it came time to move the existing washing line ground spike I envisioned a nightmare of a job, digging out around where I wanted the spike to go, getting some ready mix concrete into the hole and putting the new spike in the cement and trying to keep it straight while the concrete set. Turns out that was the OLD way of doing it. And I just met the super quick, no digging or cement needed, one person installation ground spike for dummies. On lawn you simply place the spike where you want it to go and press down firmly. Lift the plastic cover over the top and you’ll find two sleeves (for varying thicknesses of washing shaft, parasols and flagpolesJ and a steel bar. Poke this steel bar through the two holes just below the hinged lid and there you have the drill needed to install this marvellous invention. 10 turns later, my washing line is where I wanted it, the ground spike holds the line more straight than the old one and looks better too. Well worth the small sum charged.

Don’t buy !
Needs such big hole to screw in the hole its then unstable . Slight puff of wind and line falls over ( lists to side) , some clothes on floor needed re washing ! We tried to make secure, but not possible. Furthermore we decided to just return the stand . Organised the return/ paperwork. Went to remove from hole in ground and it broke / split on unwinding ! Just too cross with it and the time it wasted we just binned it . Not fit for purpose !

Short, fat and dumpy.
This was used to replace one that was used for an umbrella/ parasol and washing line (old unit was destroyed by lawnmower )This is a short, fat, dumpy unit compared to the old one, this one being made of PLASTIC ( old unit was a METAL one )No instructions came with this unit, I say this because if one has very dry hard ground, they will have to drill or dig out a hole first for it.It does not go into the ground very deep, could be a good 3 to 4 inches longer, to make it sturdier for either the umbrella/ parasol or washing line. The metal bar supplied for driving the unit into the ground, pretty useless. Might be fine in soft ground, but hardy ground for get it, unless one has an extension tube, or something that one can fit over it, for more purchase. This bar needs to be longer and have a section that angles upwards, as one needs to drive it well into the ground, if to take a big umbrella/ parasol and large washing line ( Whirly-gig, large 3 arm or 4 arm )For the depth, that I have driven it in, have some reservations as to if it will start to sag, only time will tell.I love the idea of the cap for it, so that when nothing in it, it can be sealed off, good one.Hope this helps.

Easy to use
Easy to put into the ground and does the job well! Good value for money

No rust
Hole in unit dictates the height of grass cut. Steel rod rotates until it hits the level of the lawn.Idea to cover all diameter poles is good.
