I then noticed these flat spots had a small white "X" painted next to them. Obviously, these wheels are factory rejects.However-After spending a couple hours on each with the truing stand & tension meter, I was able to get-Spoke tension +/- 5% which is VERY good.Flat spots to a very minimal amount. Not perfect, but almost as good as some much more expensive wheels I've built. Only difference being, they still had MULTIPLE spots, instead of just one at the rim joint.IF you need a cheap replacement wheel and are not "abusive", these will work.IF you know how to work on wheels, you can make them MUCH better.IF neither, look for a wheel with a double wall rim, such as a Sun Rims CR 18 for about twice the price.EDIT:These will handle a tire down to 26MM. Thinner than that would be pushing the issue IMO. Just for grins, I mounted a 23MM tire. It's narrower than the rim width by about .5MM on each side. Not good if you were to ease into a curb.I rated them a 4 because of the low price. Note this wheel is set up to take inner tubes with Presta valves, which the pages doesn't say. This wheel was much wider than the wheel I was replacing - it fit my 37 width tires nicely, but I would warn against trying to use them with a thin tire, I just don't see it working.This wheel felt very solid out on the road, but I can't vouch for it long term since I just installed it today.edit 7-2-11: I see somebody asked about the hub in a comment. The hub is something called a "shimano parallax S8" which I can't find info on. The hub spacing I don't know...It fit the same as my last wheels anyway, my bet would be its 130mm, but ask Jamis what Codas have. The internal width of the wheels is 20mm, which safely fits my 32 width tires but no thinner. The rims were sold on the page I think as Alex but were actually labelled XLC. This wheel has a slightly less beefy rim (although wider), but the whole hub assembly is monstrous compared to my original wheel. I don't think anything I can do will bend this axle. highly recommend.CONS: Putting on my old gear cassette gave me a few issues, since at first it didn't fit.
